On one of my next visits to the middle school the 6th graders were working on a show case that they had coming up the next Tuesday (I go on Fridays). Some of the students were finishing up some testing in a room across the hall and either my mentor teacher or myself would go and check on them periodically.
During second period my mentor teacher asked if I would mind grading some multiple choice quizzes that the kids had done earlier in the week. I was super excited because up until this point I had never done “real” grading of students wok.
It all centered around the Colombian Exchange and they were working on different aspects of this for their projects. Some of the students made pyramids out of different materials. One group of students made cubes out of papers then stacked then on top of each other to make their pyramid. Another group hot glued sugar cubes together to make theirs. Now the group with the sugar cubes, I had to confiscate the sugar cubes because the kids were eating them; and we can’t have already hyper kids eating sugar haha.
